PROFILE

Born in 1981 in Kumamoto, Japan. Shunsuke Takawo is a creative coder and daily coder who hosted an IT wordplay competition called "#takawo-Cup" on Twitter. In 2019, takawo started "dailycoding" as an activity to connect programming with daily life, history, landscape and culture. His first NFT art project "Generativemasks" was launched in August 2021 and sold out 10,000 collections in 2 hours. A member of Processing Community Japan and selection committee for the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival, Art Division.

Timeline of takawo's life

    Born in Kumamoto, Japan.

  • 2000


    Studied photography at the University of Tsukuba, Second School of Comparative Culture. The first exposure to contemporary art.

  • 2006


    Entered Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS).
    Conducted research on photography and film.
    Processing Photography Blink Series.

  • 2008


    Exhibited "PPBS DOF" at the minimum interface exhibition of the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM).

  • 2010


    Worked as an assistant at the Art Media Center, Tokyo University of the Arts and learned new media such as creative coding, physical computing (electronics) and digital fabrication. Then he became aware of alternative places of expression and community-based activities centered on the web from the existing art field. He hosted an IT wordplay competition "#takawo-Cup" on Twitter and received over 62,000 submissions.
